Overview
Pleat Spacer Model 2200. These items look like giant hair combs. They are sold individually and your unit will hold 5 of them. The most common reason you need to replace them is that the clip at the end breaks off. This is almost always caused by the air filter getting too dirty and the furnace tugs on the plugged air filter causing the pleat space tips to shear off. Once one shears off there is often a domino effect and additional pleat spacers are broken. You can avoid this by replacing the air filter more often. Your other option (if you have a model 2200 unit and the door for it is plastic) is to purchase an upgrade kit part 1213.
